  1. What is a magnetostrictive displacement sensor?

  Answer: The magnetostrictive displacement sensor is a new generation of linear displacement detection products.   2. What is the general supply range of the Firstrate sensor? When ordering the Firstrate sensor, do I need to add the zero zone and the dead zone to the order length?

  Answer: The scope of supply of Firstrate sensor range is between 50-2000mm. Except for the FST-RP aluminum molded case magnetostrictive displacement sensor, the first end dead zone is 28mm, and the end dead zone is 66mm. , The dead zone at the end is fixed length (50.8mm at the head end and 63.5mm at the end), as long as the effective stroke is provided when ordering.   3. Can the length of the sensor be shortened or lengthened after it leaves the factory?

  Answer: The user is absolutely not allowed to lengthen or cut the length of the sensor at will, because the sensing element (namely, the wave guide) is produced according to the effective range, and the length is fixed and absolutely cannot be changed. If it is too long, the user can make appropriate adjustments on the controller side, sacrificing part of the effective stroke. At this time, we must emphasize again: the effective range must be clarified when ordering. Once the wrong setting is made, it is difficult to modify.

 

  4. What is the protection level? What is the protection level of the Firstrate sensor? Are there any waterproof products?

  Answer: The IP (Internatinal Protection) protection level system was drafted by the IEC (International Electro Technical Commission), which classifies electrical products according to their dustproof, foreign object, waterproof, and moisture-proof characteristics. The IP protection level is composed of two numbers. The first number indicates the level of dust and foreign objects intrusion; the second number indicates the degree of airtightness against moisture and water intrusion. The larger the number, the higher the protection level. The meanings of the two numbers are as follows:

  5. When the long-stroke sensor is installed in a horizontal cylinder, how should it be installed to avoid the wear caused by natural sagging?

  Answer: Generally speaking, for products with a measuring range greater than 1.2 meters, there will be a certain degree of deflection in the middle section of the measuring rod during installation, which may rub against the inner wall of the piston rod, and long-term use may damage the sensor rod. It is recommended that when the range is greater than 1.2 meters, choose a thicker rod, such as Φ12mm, etc. Please contact our technical support for details.

 

  6. Does the Firstrate displacement sensor have overvoltage or reverse polarity protection for the input voltage?

  Answer: Firstrate sensor comes with power supply reverse protection (-30VDC) and overvoltage protection (33VDC). Reverse polarity protection can last up to 30 minutes; overvoltage protection does not exceed 33VDC. If the sensor's power supply is connected to 220V or 380V, it will inevitably cause damage. Therefore, please carefully check the wiring before use to ensure that it is correct before powering on.

 

  7. Does the sensor need to be recalibrated or maintained regularly?

  Answer: No regular maintenance is required. Since the Firstrate sensor is manufactured with non-contact magnetostrictive technology, the output signal is a real-time displacement signal output and is an absolute value, and the internal electronic components and electronic modules are very stable, there is no friction, no need Regular re-marking and maintenance.

 

  8. Does the sensor output jump or become unstable?

  Answer: All Firstrate products undergo repeated inspections and tests before leaving the factory. The process complies with the ISO9001 international standard, and they are delivered to customers only after they meet the specifications. In fact, when we received such requests for help, we found that more than 95% were caused by customer wiring errors. Therefore, we hereby emphasize again that we hope that the user connects the wire according to the product manual, and must check whether the wiring is correct before turning on the power. If the sensor still does not work properly, the owner immediately contact Firstrate for assistance, do not try to repair it yourself. The following is the general troubleshooting sequence:

  1. Check whether the grounding of the system is good;

  2. Whether the wiring is reasonable;

  3.Whether the connecting cable of the sensor avoids high-power motors, power supplies, radio frequency signal sources or other noise sources;

  4. Whether the shielded wire is connected correctly;

  5. Whether the maximum calculation frequency of the receiving device is too low;

  6. Whether the measuring rod is twisted;

 

  9. The sensor has no output or no change?

  Answer: Check in the following order

  1. Check the wiring (refer to the product manual), system settings, etc.;

  2. Check whether the power supply is normal, whether the power supply is stable, and does not exceed the supply voltage;

  3. Whether the cable is disconnected;

 

  10. The magnetic displacement sensor installed in the hydraulic cylinder has a non-linear output?

  Answer: It may be that the hydraulic cylinder is made of magnetic material. Therefore, corresponding measures must be taken when designing hydraulic cylinders.

 

  11. What external damage should be avoided?

  Answer: Such as water flooding, high temperature, cable cut or violent impact, etc.

 

  12. Can the magnetic ring of the Firstrate sensor be used in common with the magnetic ring of other brand sensors? Will the magnetic ring demagnetize or fail?

  Answer: Firstrate is compatible with the magnetic rings of some foreign brand sensors. Please consult technical support for specific information. The magnetic ring will not be demagnetized and does not need to be replaced.
